nhk world is probably the easiest way to get real news from japan --- not the fear mongering of other networks thanks to their inept correspondents.

The app is awsome but why arent all shows gainable thats the only thing i dont like but the rest works great.

video quality over 3G is downscaled SO much the video becomes a BLUR, audio sounds like charlie browns teacher WAWAWAWA. Over wifi, quality is GREAT! Shows are very decent and its free. NHK, you MUST update this program so 3G quality is at least understandable.

Initially had similar concerns as already mentioned regarding lo-res video and sound but I found that this cleared up after I left it playing on WIFI for "a while" (>10 minutes). Even then, it would occasionally drop back from "hi-res mode" from time-to-time even on WIFI. Once its in "hi-res mode" I found it to be excellent video and sound. I liked the fact that most (all?) of the footage of Japanese viewers gives the original Japanese audio. Great! Thanks! Also like the "upcoming schedule." Would like to see in future versions: - ability to see entire broadcast in Japanese (great for practicing Japanese listening skills) - scrollable schedule. Right now its just the next 4 or 5 "programs" only that are shown.
