NHK WORLD-JAPAN App Reviews

I would have given this app 5 stars but over the past 3 months it seems to keep repeating a segment at least 3 sometimes 5 times before it continues back on a "live" stream. I have tried to delete and redownload the app but it hasnt worked. Hope NHK sees this review and can fix this irritating bug!

+ Switches to background streaming like Pandora, but: - When switching to background audio, and when switching back to foreground video, the audio will stutter or loop for a few seconds. - Video can stutter and repeat and switch quality even with high bandwidth connexions. It is sad that NHK is still unable to get as consistent performance with video streaming both here and on their website.

Ive used the NHK World News app ever since I discovered the station while I was an exchange student in Germany. I thoroughly enjoy the Japanese perspective on global world events, and in particular, I enjoy the train segments with their beautiful narration and landscapes. This app itself generally performs well, but it seems that there is recently an issue with the video/audio repeating over a loop. This bug is very bothersome and it repeats over multiple segments, and occurs randomly. If it werent for this bug disrupting my viewing experience this would certainly be at least a star higher.

We used to have satellite channel in my country but unfortunately it was removed cause most of our people dont watch it anymore But with app now I can continue watching it whenever and wherever I go .... THANK YOU NHK

I love NHK News app but its looping repeatedly. I must pause it in order to watch the next loop. I thought it could b my iPhone so I downloaded it to my iPad but its the same looping. Please onegai fix this problem. I miss watching it smoothly. Onegaishimasu!!!

This is how other Apple TV apps should work. No hiccups, no problems streaming. It just works.

Oh thank you thank you thank you for making this wonderful TV program available on App. I love this channel. In todays glitzy media and shock and sensitized journalism this TV has managed to remain simple and humble like a home baked bread. App is similarly designed to be simple and does exactly what it is supposed to do - without unnecessary bells and whistles!!

The app is steady, stable, and gives me access to such a great channel. NHK world rocks!

I discovered this app years ago when I was downloading apps to learn Japanese or about Japan on my iPad and was impressed what I could learn each time. The video streaming works very hard to stay connected and the app is slowly improving in features, but I think it is very behind the times in not letting you connect to Chromecast, Apple TV, or Roku. Budget could have gone to that instead if adding Apple Watch App. Many people want this option when watching at home. At least I do! I would give 5 stars if this feature was added and would make it easier to watch every day. Overall though, the content has grown to focus on current events in Asia more than ever and is a good way to connect Westerners to a better view of whats going on in the East. Something hard to do if you dont speak any of the native languages.

I like to be able to rewind to something I missed. • Please add all shows to On Demand. The best shows...
